Dr. Heather Bond Southard, DDS
A native of northeast Arkansas, Dr. Southard attended the University of Arkansas for her undergraduate studies. She graduated from the University Of Tennessee College Of Dentistry in 2002. She feels very blessed to be practicing general dentistry in this wonderful town.
Over her years in practice, Dr. Southard became interested in the treatment of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders. Dr. Southard understands this disorder from the patient’s point of view, because she has suffered for years with the neck and shoulder aches, headaches, & vertigo that accompany this problem.
In 2011, Dr. Southard completed a mini-residency in orofacial pain at the University of Kentucky. She is currently working toward her fellowship in a year long program with the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain. This program consists of intense study of TMJ disorders, craniofacial pain, and dental sleep medicine. She stated, “I am very excited about the future of dental sleep medicine. Our ability as dentists to help people who struggle with sleep apnea and are intolerant of CPAP can be life changing for our patients.”
The American Academy of Craniofacial Pain recommends that dentist treating OSA(obstructive sleep apnea) with an OAT (oral appliance therapy) be knowledgeable in treating TMD based on problems that can occur with mandibular repositioning.
Dr. Southard is a member of the American Dental Association, Arkansas State Dental Association, American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Southard is married to Stephen Southard II. They have 2 children, Brandon and Blakely.
Dr. Alex Rowlan, DDS
Dr. Alex Rowlan is originally from Central Arkansas but has been a member of the Northeast Arkansas Community since 2012. Dr. Rowlan graduated from Bryant High School in 2012.
Furthering his education, Dr. Rowlan completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Arkansas State University 2015. While at ASU, Dr. Rowlan enjoyed volunteering as the assistant soccer coach at Jonesboro High School and always looked forward to spending time with his fraternity brothers. Dr. Rowlan was accepted into dental school at the University of Tennessee and graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in 2021.
Dr. Rowlan joined Dr. Southard's office staff in 2022. He is an active member of the American Dental Association and the Arkansas Dental Association.
Dr. Rowlan has an 9 year old son, Brenson. Dr. Rowlan is an active member of Word Baptist Church in Jonesboro. On weekends you're most likely to find Dr. Rowlan watching the Razorbacks or spending time with his family.
In the office, he strives to treat everyone like family and believes that integrity and trust are extremely important values to have in the field of dentistry. Dr. Rowlan likes to keep the mood light in his operatory and gives his best to all his patients.
Lauren, Registered Dental Assistant/Clinical Administrator
Lauren was born and raised in Northeast Arkansas. Lauren has 18 years of dental experience. Not only is she an experienced dental assistant; she has received extra training in the Pinhole Surgical Technique, TMD and Sleep Therapy. Lauren’s favorite thing about her job is the relationships she forms with her patients. She will be happy to assist you with any questions or concerns that you may have. She is the mother of two boys, loves summertime, watching sports, and spending time with her family.
Jenn - Office Assistant/Insurance Administrator
Jenn was born and raised in Jonesboro, AR. She graduated from Bay High School in 2012. Jenn received a bachelor’s degree from Arkansas State University in 2017. Jenn is responsible for making sure your dental treatment meets your financial goals. She is great at making sure patients have the best care from the time they walk in until they leave. In her free time, she enjoys baking, embroidery, hiking, and hanging out with her Golden Retriever, Murphy. Jenn and Jordan are expecting their first child in September 2024!
Amber, Registered Dental Hygienist
Amber attended Arkansas State University for her undergraduate, before transferring to Merdian Community College. There she received her degree in dental hygiene in 2003. She has been serving our patients for 13 years. She especially loves interacting with patients and developing personal relationships with the team. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their two children, attending church regularly, traveling, and her beloved St. Louis Cardinals.
Renee, Registered Dental Assistant
Renee has been with Dr. Southard since she started her practice in 2005. She was born and raised in Jonesboro. Renee graduated from Jonesboro High School. She then became a Registered Dental Assistant, having 40 years’ experience. Renee is responsible for assisting Dr. Southard with all dental procedures. If you have any dental questions, Renee will help you.
Renee and her husband Jim have three children. They enjoy spending their free time vacationing.
Nikki W. - TMJ Assistant
Nikki recently joined Dr. Southard’s team working with TMJ patients. Prior to working with Dr. Southard, Nikki worked with Families of Fallen Soldiers as a Government Contractor for the U.S Army. Nikki is very involved in community theatre and is a co-founder of Act II Performing Arts. In her spare time, Nikki enjoys painting, playing the flute, and singing. She is a wife and mother of 2 daughters, 26 and 15, and 3 chihuahuas.
Brittany - Registered Dental Assistant
Brittany was born in Missouri and moved to Paragould, AR when she was 10. She graduated from Greene County Tech in 2017, and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree from Arkansas State in 2021. Brittany has been a Registered Dental Assistant for a year now. Brittany is a huge asset to Dr. Southard’s team because she assists both doctors, and helps front office when needed. Brittany lives with her roommate, Shana, and they have two cats, Stevie and Nix. Brittany also has a bulldog, Diesel who lives with her mom and dad.
Nikki F. - Registered Dental Assistant
Nikki has been with Dr Southard’s team for a year. Nikki has been in the dental field for 5 years. Nikki is responsible for assisting Dr. Rowlan with all dental procedures. Nikki is married to Jeremy, and they have two children. In Nikki’s free time, you can find her at the lake or the river with her family and dogs.
